Spray bottle with distilled water and just a little Dawn dish washing soap along with the micro fiber cloth which I keep in a bag to keep grit from getting in it.

    From the HDS10 G1 manual:
Cleaning the Screen — Warm water and soap will work fine. You
can also use ammonia-type cleaners like Windex. Do not use any type of
abrasive cleaners. They will remove the Anti-Reflection coating from the
    glass.

    From the HDSG2-12 Touch manual:
Avoid any contact with solvents (acetone, mineral turpentine
etc.), Ammonia-based or vinegar-based cleaning products as
they may damage the anti-glare layer, plastics bezel, or rubber keys.

    From the Garmin 7610xsv manual
Cleaners containing ammonia will harm the anti-reflective coating.
The device is coated with a special anti-reflective coating which is very sensitive to skin oils, waxes, and abrasive cleaners. Apply an eyeglass lens cleaner specified as safe for anti-reflective coatings to the cloth. Gently wipe the screen with a soft, clean, lint-free cloth.

    From the Helix manuals
To clean the screen, use a mild non-abrasive liquid hand soap and warm water. Do not use chemical glass cleaner.

The Lowrance HDS Gen3 manuals make no mention of how to clean the screens.

Over time the suggestions have changed as the anti-reflective coating has changed. While Windex, ammonia and vinegar based solutions were once recommended, now many manuals say NOT to use them.

I mix my own. 50% distilled water, 50% alcohol.
My wife asks if I'm going to fish every day. I can't fish every day. Some days I might be sick.

LWIN, you are right from what I have learned using high-end camera equipment. The lenses and screens that have anti-reflective coatings, even polarized sunglasses such as Maui Jim that have these coatings, are susceptible to stronger glass cleaners damaging the coatings. I use camera lens cleaners such as Zeiss lens cleaner on coated lenses, screens, or glasses. It's available from Amazon at minimal cost in small spray bottles.

the screens on my GPSmap's are plastic. I use whatever SiO2 spray detailer I have on hand. Spray wax will work as well.

Lately it's been DPC Shine & Protect SiO2 spray.

Really it depends on which model you have. If you have the older EchoMap Chirp's where the screen is recessed a bit, then you want to use something that is anti-reflective coating safe. A monitor or LCD screen cleaner would be ideal. The newer EchoMap's and GPSmap units the screen is behind a clear plastic that sits flush with the unit. A lot more forgiving.

I bought some cheap eyeglass cleaner from amazon. No ammonia or alcohol, safe for all coatings. Have been very pleased with the results so far.

I’ve been using Zeiss Lens Cleaner for my glasses and I’m putting a bottle in the boat too. It cleans great , doesn’t streak and it’s formulated for use on lenses with anti glare coatings. If it’s good enough for expensive binocular and camera lenses I think it’s good enough for my graphs.
An 8 ounce bottle of it is about $3.00 at Walmart.
