He was a great rod builder and one heck of a funny guy. Years ago, I spent many hours in his shop just chatting with him and watching him work. He will be missed. RIP Bill.
Sorry to hear that, have a number of rods made by him. My 3 boys were always excited to go to his shop, cause there was usually a rod with their name engraved on it in there.
Same here. many a trip to Staley NC to visit Bill. Remember my 1st custom rod Bill made for me w/ Loomis blank and spiral wrap. My thoughts and prayers.
He'll be missed for sure. He made 2 custom rods for me also. In my prayers for the family!
Prayers sent to all involved. He made a great difference in many people's lives.
Sad news. I have some of his rods as well.
Yes been to the shop many of times. Just proves a good location is not the most important thing in business. Been a lie or two told in that shop. I loved going through all the WEC crankbaits there

Sad to read this. The man knew how to build a fishing rod. Loved shooting the bull with him and Jake on the river.

Jake was a real treasure. One night in Bill's shop two fisherman were really complaining, about their weekend tournament.Jake looked at them and said boys let me tell you about a bad day,The Battle of the Bulge. The two fisherman shut up real quick.Jake was an American Badass but you would never it by the way he carried himself. Two great men hopefully fishing in heaven now.
Rest easy Mr. Bill
