    99' 225 HO, Intake-Throttle Body gasket position

I'm in search of someone with a better understanding for situation.

I have a 99' 225 HO that is very weak on take off and weak at WOT. It runs great but feels like a 150 as opposed to a 225 HO.

It starts immediately and idles great.

Looking into various problems, I have noticed that I had the gasket between the intake and throttle bodies oriented differently.

When I align the gasket, I do not see how there can be any relevance in the gasket positioning. Is it possible that I have the wrong gasket because that little notch does NOT align with anything.

Solid bar to the bottom of the intake, the gasket should be marked UP

marked up in what way? I don't see any markings. Also, could this orientation effect my performance?

If you look at the tab on the gasket it should be marked UP near the tab the bottom two need to be flippped.

    Got it.
Do you think this would effect WOT performance?

I think I figured out where my Horse Power has gone.

    Cyl #4 Carb/Intake O-ring.
    Cyl #1 Carb/Intake O-Ring.
Cyl #5 Float Damaged and float level WAY off.
Several Carb with moderate warping. (#5 fairly severe)

I'm assuming that all of these items stacked up is contributing major HP reduction.

winner winner chicken dinner! Amazing huh? Your best bet for carb bowls would be Pro-marine.com.

Is it normal for the bowl to have better flatness than the actual mating portion of the carb? This actually seemed to be much worse. Do you recommend reworking this area? I've see some suggestions and video's of folks using a glass and with sand paper to clean them up. It seems to work well but I don't like taking those plastic location pins off. They seem to hold the rubber gasket in place. Your thought?
