    2001 200hp efi

Friend bought a used ranger with the 200efi motors. Runs great but he wants to remove the oil injection system. Has no issues but he is afraid of it failing? Good idea or bad idea? If he removes it is it easy or trained tech level job? He is a semi mechanic by trade

This is probably a 2.5L engine model... next forum down has plenty of info on these engines.

Most of us that work on these regularly prefer to Retain (and properly MAINTAIN) the Oil Injection System. Properly maintained, most will see decades of good service.

they not bad too remove , most reputable techs advise against removing , with a well maintained system (hoses and such replaced in a timely manner) they are a very relieable system , and will save oil and plugs and just runs much cleaner =less carbon, make sure warning horn functions , that is what I see most failures from,THEY say I didn't know it was low on oil or didn't know it was hot !!!!!! because the damn horn didn't work
