Bravo 1 Barrel Length Question

Will the longer barrel length of the original Bravo 1 aid in holeshot by keeping the rear of the boat from dipping as low or does it just keep exhaust further away from the blades & provide more stern lift when running on plane?

Longer barrel/flare increases stern lift if you surface the prop, shorter barrel helps bow lift, especially if you surface the prop. Buried probably not much difference. Shorter barrel will help it spool up a little better. But get it too short and you have a ruined prop. Half an inch is the max to cut off.
