Are those nylon prop wrenchs worth the $$ or will it strip out after a few uses?? Wanting to put a wrench/breaker bar w/socket in boat but not sure about those......would be for emergency use......

I tried one of those while at home a few years back and it flexed to much. I keep a socket, breaker bar, spare prop, spare nut/washers, piece of 2x4 in my boat in the event I need to replace a prop. Also keep a piece of PVC in the boat for leverage.

They scare me, I went with a 1/2” wrench, 2” extension and deep socket.
edit: and a soft glove to hold onto the blade with.
I strip mine after the third use. Went to Lowe's and just bought a socket wrench. I keep it in the boat.

Mine snapped the 1st time I used it and I don’t think the nut was really that tight. Now, I just keep a socket and ratchet in the boat. I also carry a torque wrench in my truck.
Have a Blessed Day,
Mike
Well sounds like i will go with my original plan......get a real breaker bar and socket......

Probably as good as POS plastic oil filter cup wrench. Cracked at 1/2" extension hole first use.
I've had mine 30 years and have never had a problem.

Shouldn't the prop's castle nut be hand tight and not torqued down real hard? That was my understanding at least.
I do carry a nylon prop wrench in the boat just in case. Also it should be said that they float! That is huge when you are on the water working on things!
Just get a cheap 10-12'' beaker bar with the correct size deep well socket. I keep mine in the cheap 30 cal plastic gasket sealed ammo box from Plano or HF, Keep a chuck of 2x4 as well as needle nose pliers with it. You will bust your knuckles with the plastic or the aluminum prop wrench.

I use a breaker bar and socket also. Breaker bar rides in the truck all the time in the tool box but I keep the socket in the boat since its the only place I use it is on the boat. Same with a lug wrench. keep that socket in the boat also
Plastic one is garbage....

Go with breaker bar and socket. Get one with a hole in the end so you can attach a leash to put around your wrist

Get a good breaker bar and socket and keep a socket for your lug nuts in the boat too. That way you always have it with you.
