Guide friend down there says you have to hit them on the head. I live 3 hrs from there and won’t make the trip, damn sure wouldn’t from Idaho.
Do not waste your time, go to Rayburn or someplace that might actually give you some excitement, Amistad has sucked for years.
I've fished Amistad a lot, mostly from September to March since 1996
It's fishing tougher than I've ever seen it.

I've heard second hand that Choke Canyon is doing exceptionally well.
If your going all that way go to Falcon; Better fish and fishing on the worst day.
Chokes decent, but it fishes very small due to being so low. Definitely not worth driving from Idaho to fish.Originally Posted by fishnfireman
That why the guides are crappie fishing instead of bass fishing. I tried to pay one down there last week because we were struggling and he said “ I won’t take you because I fell like I’m robbing you without using a gun” Evidentlits still miserable down there, know six boat been there for a three days and caught one fish.
