    2017 Triton 18trx

My dealer has a Triton I’ve been thinking of looking at trading my 2007 Triton Aluminum in on. It’s a 2017 Triton 18trx with a 175 ProXS, 2 Hook 7s, a fortrex, manual jackplate, and a tandem trailer for $33,995. The only thing that I would want to do to this boat is add an ultrex so I have spot-lock. Do you think it’s a fair price? The boat is in VA so it should be low hours. Was hoping some of you Triton guys could give me some feedback. Anyone run this rig? What do you consider to be low hours? This same dealer has the 2020 18trxs listed at $51-53K.

How many hours are on the motor? 175 is also not maxed out on hp for this hull either so that effects price too. Is that $51k for the 2020 model out the door and what accessories included? I got my 2020 18trx with a 200 pro xs 4 stroke atlas 6” jackplate with an ultrex and tandem axle trailer for $51k out the door. That price was without any graphs i installed my own but did include a dowco cover which would of been around $750 i believe.

Wow, 53k for an 18 trx seems pretty high to me. Didn't realize they had gone up that much. Maybe because it has a 4 stroke motor?? When I bought my 16 model with a tandem trailer, fortrex, and a 200 pro xs it was 42k. IMO 34k is a little high for the 17 model boat with a 175. Is there any warranty left on the motor ? I would say it would run 63-64 mph with a 175. Being under powered would probably hurt the resale value. Most people want the HP maxed out. As for what would be considered low hours I have fished out of mine 3 seasons and it has 101 hrs now.

for what it’s worth, I bought a brand new 2019 18TRX, Mercury 200 HP Pro XS 4S, 6” manual JP, with a single axle EZ loader trailer, no cover, with one 7” hook2 and it had a Minkota Fortex TM (I took a credit for been put on my Ultrex) for ~$37500. So in my opinion, 34K might be a little bit high for a 2007 used boat with a 175 on it. The boat you’re looking at could have a better trailer, cover, and other things, so I’m not too sure. Good luck.... I should mention I bought it just a few months ago at the end of the year so there were some Triton rebates available.

I purchased a model clearance new 18TRX 175 Opti in 2018 for $38k with the Ultrex. If the motor you're looking at has less than 100 hours I would say that's a pretty fair deal. The 18TRX is a solid boat with a huge front deck. I haven't been able to get the speed I was expecting out of it, though. It's a heavy boat for it's size. I plan on re-powering to the 200HP in a few years. For now, I've kind of accepted that high 50's to low 60's is all she has. Good luck in your search.

I would say that is a bit high, IMO. I would expect it to be right at 30 with the 175. If it was a 200 then that would be a fair price, maybe a little lower. I know the 2019's are upper 30's. Keep in mind, if this is coming from a dealer they are trying to make some money off the boat as well. If you were going to buy from a an owner, right at 30 would be a start.

I am extremely happy with the boat. It handles the water very well, Fishes perfectly, Great storage, large fishing decks both front and rear, is a 70 mile an hour boat, after about 66 mph you do have to drive it, but that gets easier and easier each time out. Very seldom am I driving past 60 miles an hour anyway. I am very happy with the boat.

I absolutely love mine. The front deck is huge for this size boat. Mine has plenty of storage and rides really well. It handles like a sports car compared to my last boat(skeeter). Only thing I didn't like was the center storage box. Its just a wide open box with angles on the sides. I ended up building a rack to hold 3700 style boxes for tackle. Its pretty fast with a 200 pro xs (70 mph tournament loaded) and feels stable even at WOT. They will chine walk a little so if your not use to a boat that walks it will take a little getting use to. Probably wont be as bad with the 175 though.

Agree the center box could use some refinement and thought from Triton

I agree the center storage is angled, I don’t keep anything with any weight in it, so for lifejackets extra coats, even plastic bins with my plastics fit fine in there. I have a lot of things in there that don’t weigh much that need a place to go, to me it’s a non-issue, it’s great Storage. I’ve never even given any thought to be honest. If it is an issue, is extremely easy fix.

Agreed. That was the 1 thing I did not like about the design of the 18TRX. They could make a little extra money per boat if they added an divider/organizer as an upgradeable option. I use that area for tackle storage in all my boats. I has visions on stuff sliding under the front seat post area. Other then that I really like the 18TRX, solid boat, feels bigger then an 18ft class boat and take big water really well.

I'd be a little skeptical of that dealer. Asking $50K+ for 2020 TRX189's is actually outrageous. I just bought a 2020 with a 150, Garmin EchoMap 93 and 73, and Minn Kota Edge for just under 40 out the door. These boats carry an MSRP of about $34.5 before you start adding bells and whistles, but most should be around $36-37k as they sit on the lot.

I'd say you should be able to beat them up a little on that used price too. Should be able to get him down to about 30, I'd guess they only gave about 25k on that trade-in when they took the boat

If you're serious about buying a newer boat (but still used) boat, it could be worth it to go ahead and buy the Bluetooth module for the Mercury engines. Takes less than 5 minutes to install it and will let you see the hours. Don't want to accidentally buy a boat with like 400 hours on it, and since your looking at Triton's you could ultimately install the module on whatever Mercury engine you land on.

Edit: I realized you're talking about the 18TRX and I'm talking about the TRX189, but the only difference is really the engine they load on there from the beginning. 18TRX'es should start right around 40 and should be almost impossible to rig over 50k without an Ultrex and 12 inch graphs.

I assume you’re talking about Anglers Choice Marine. The TRX 18s they have for $53k are with tandem axle trailer, dual Lowrance Elite Ti2 9s, #80 Ultrex and dual Power Poles. Not sure if that’s a decent deal or not. I’m guessing they can be had for less. As far as the boat in question, first thing I’d do is NADA it as close as you can. Then if you like it, offer them a price you’re comfortable with. No reason to over pay and have buyers remorse.

Wow, drive down south and price some. My 19 189TRX with a 175 ProXS 4 stroke was almost 10k cheaper.

IMO, if you are going to get a 175 on a 18TRX, you might as well buy the 189TRX and save some money.

I agree with that. The 189 seems like a good value depending how much you dress it out. Depending if you want to do the electronics and trolling motor install yourself. You could buy a base boat and put dual 9” Lowrance and a spot lock trolling motor for a ways under $40k
