    Christ prophesied about Himself

Epiphany: Christmas of the gentiles (non Jews), Manifest, Enlighten, Show forth. God's Son is revealed to the gentiles and all the earth.

Some 900-1000 years before His birth, Christ prophesies about Himself thru His servant Solomon (his clarity of Jesus):

    Psalm 72

    1
Give the King+ your justice, O God,
and your righteousness+ to the royal son+!
4May he defend+ the cause of the afflicted of the people,
give deliverance+ to the children of the needy,
    and crush+ the oppressor!
10May the kings of Tarshish and of the coastlands
    render him tribute;
may the kings of Sheba and Seba
    bring gifts!
13He has pity on the weak and the needy,
and saves+ the lives of the needy.
14From oppression and violence he rescues+ them,
and precious is their blood in his sight.
    17May his name endure forever,
his fame continue as long as the sun!
May people be blessed in him.
All nations call him blessed! (my emphasis. '+' = the cross and Christ)

v.1 'royal son' = Jesus, 'justice, righteousness' God would deliver justice (punishment) for our sins--to Jesus. His righteousness would become ours. This is the gracious exchange: Christ becomes sin, We are clothed in His righteousness.

v.4 'afflicted, needy'-- That would be us. Spiritual beggars. He 'saved' us. Something we could not do. 'Crush'--reference to Gen 3:15, "He will crush you head..." Christ would destroy satan and his power over us.

v.13 parallel of verse 4 emphasizes our spiritual weakness

v.14 'precious'. The life is in the blood. Your life is precious in God's sight. God sacrifices His only Son in a hideous way. At this high cost you are precious indeed. Christ was born, led a perfect life, was crucified, and rose again for you and me. "By His stripes we are healed." Is 53. The God of creation and salvation delivers.
