Wiring harness falling into rod locker.

2016 Cougar FTD. The wiring harness running through the gunwale is falling down into the rod locker. I dont see anything in the gunwale to secure it to. Anybody have this issue? Any ideas on how to get it to stay up there?20191230_120629.jpg

I have noticed mine doing it as well. I have not really looked I to it. Was going to wait until I did my normal service.

If you want to do it yourself, get some of the zip type adhesive backed mounts. Find flat spots up in the rod locker, if you can, to mount them, cleaning the area first with alcohol. Then zip tie the wiring.

I have thought about that. I have a feeling its going to get too hot up there and they will just fall off.

You are correct about the heat.
I secure wires and extra LED light strips with a spot of Goop all purpose adhesive on either side of the adhesive tape.

If you decide against a dealer, what I did was use duct tape to hold it up where I wanted it. Than took silicone and applied it to those areas next to the tape. After it dried I removed the tape. Had held ever since I did it. Not noticeable either.

Not really interested in taking to dealer. This is something i can fix myself. Just looking for ideas on what others are doing with this problem.
How does the factory secure it there?

If you are concerned about heat, you could simply remove the adhesive tape from the cable mounts and either use an epoxy or PL2 to mount them. I’ve used PL 2 to mount starboard to the fibreglass, and it will never come off. Mask the mounts overnight until the PL 2 sets up.

Those inside were concerned with it coming down. May have missed a loop, and we wanted to be sure. You can screw a long machine through the rub rail, inside the insert and use a loop tie with screw hole to retain it. We do not suggest duct tape.

A long straight rod such as a old or broken fishing pole zip tied to the harness to hold it straight. It can usually be tied to or inserted into other areas for full support
    Thank You Leon Pugh

My 08 classic has what appears to be a section of PVC 'glassed in up above the starboard rod box. Cables run through this which keeps 'em out of the rod box for me.

I had the same thing happen on my boat (different brand) So I put in pex water pipe (slightly flexible) reran the wires through it, and secured with stainless hardware and pipe clamps. Much better than any factory retaining method.
