    AVX 189?

Can this boat be ordered with a recess for the trolling motor pedal? Also, can the 3 across seat posts on front deck be changed to the single center one? Looking for more of a bass setup. Is there a substantial difference in ride between 189 and the 1880?

I don’t think you can get a recess for the TM pedal, I believe SClark stated that a while back.

Yes the 189 is still on their website as is the 189C crappie model.

I test drove a 189 and 1880 at Just Add Water in Indy so I have minimal knowledge about ride. I drove the 189 first then the 1880 and by the time we tied the 1880 up at the dock I decided to order one if we could get a deal put together. I’m supposed to pick it up 2/3.

From what I was told by a local dealer, no recessed pedal due to the rod tubes running too far forward. You can order the 189 with the single post hole. I'm considering o e as well for bass fishing but I want to see one in person and no one near me owns one

Ok....Thanks for the info. BigEasy what made you decide on the 1880? I think I have it narrowed down between the Vexus 1880/189 and the new Ranger RT 188P.

Part of it was the rear compartment storage (1880 is much larger) but more importantly the ride and handling. The 189, while a nice boat that would have suited me very well, didn’t feel as comfortable/capable as the 1880.

I don’t mean to stir something up but the 180/Ranger Rts/Triton TX boats are glorified and very nice Jon boats (that I’d have bought). The 1880 and larger Vexus boats are a different class of boat from a ride/handling standpoint.

What you are saying makes sense. I have had a chance to look at both the 1880 and the 188P but not the Vexus 189. What did you choose for power on your 1880?

    Zuk 115SS.

I spend most of my time fishing a lake with a 35 mph speed limit so the extra mph or two available with the Evinrude 135 was not a big deal to me. The 189 I test drove had the Zuk on it and it came out of the hole like it was hooked to the forward catapult on an aircraft carrier.

I was set on a RT188, I was disappointed in the fit and finish of it. It had a suitcase handle for a grab bar, for example. The dealer told me there was a huge difference in a RT188 from 2014 and the 2019 I was looking at...whatever that means. The 1880 has a TON more storage and I would imagine a better ride, as the 189 has a "conventional" aluminum hull.

I am definitely leaning towards the Vexus 1880. There were several months between the time I looked at the 1880 and when I saw the Ranger 188P. One thing I do remember well is that the 1880 appearance was was much more plush with higher end components overall. I have Mercury support close to me so that is the engine I would go with. Dealers are 2-3 hours away.
