That's some huge deck area on both boats. I believe the 2020 Jag was widened about a 1/2 inch and lengthened to 22 feet.

For me, deck width isn't an issue. In fact my favorite front deck is the Eyra. It's actually a little smaller than the front on my PII.
I 99 percent fish the bank.
I can definetley see where a wide deck would be more appealing for big water. Especially as we age.

That would we believe be the previous Jaguar.

The new 2020 model dimensions changed some.

The width won’t change much, though dual pedestals, longer boat and different console and cockpit placement.

not to forget that it comes with a Hughs 500 on the front deck, in case you need to get somewhere on land quickly. :)

mmm, probably not. he used to own a Jag. maybe hasn't kept up with a recent redesign since his siggy has him now in Phoenix. Pretty close dimensions between the two models he compared, new "22 foot" Jag not withstanding. it's just that much bigger...

Read all 3. Asking questions in the bassboat topic forum. Didn't have up to date measurements (even the manufacturer says they haven't released measurements) so he was going by previous. Of course non cat owners may not know that Cougar FTD also stands for Full Team Deck rather than full tournament deck, designed for the ability of two anglers up front.
For years we heard the Jag being so big...saw pics of Puma molds inside a Jaguar mold. So Phoenix comes out with a boat having a similar size front deck, next step is to go bigger. Hello 2020. To each their own...

I just don’t get all the “big deck envy”? Lol I of course understand that there is a market for them but hell, buy a pontoon boat already.

When you get older, the big deck is nicer. If you happen to stumble on a big deck-your chances of landing in the water is less!! IMO the Bass Cat Jaguar is a great boat, just a little too heavy.

Isn't that the truth. That is exactly why I went from the P2 to the Classic. Much bigger front deck. Not as agile as I once was

I agree. Fishing big water or age would be benefited by a larger deck.
But in the end, your still fishing the very front on the bow area. Or at least I do.
In my PII, my poles are never in my way.
I could be in the Jag or Phoenix and hit a stump while using the TM and still go overboard.
Unless your in big water or a lake with lots of traffic I see no benefit to a wider deck while drop shot fishing.
If your worried about rough water get the Hybrid.

My buddy has a Nitro Z18.
The deck is huge. I feel like I always have to walk backwards from my fishing point on the boat to work the TM.
Than go back to my spot to fish.
The lakes I fish have no deep structure. None.
Needing such a large boat is a negative.

It's all about the anglers needs. Obviously the Jag and Phoenix will fill the shoes of anyone needing a huge front deck.

    thank you Opaleski,

The new Jaguar has changes to the performance, while the size requires weight and that aspect is what it is as we both know the Jaguar is massive and deep.

The newer version is more of a performer than the previous model for those who like a 250 engine. The made changes to the hull to accommodate smaller horsepower. While the former ran great with 300 to 400 ponies, it was a baby carriage with a 250. This one has more spunk with a 250 engine, and the new four stroke Mercury also helps that with more torque.

Just like a Pantera Classic has a power curve difference from a 150 to a 200 that a P2 is better with, all model have a point where more ponies help and change the experience significantly.

    Thank You,

    BCB

Opaleski, I'm with you on the wide/big front deck. Old age, peripheral neuropathy, etc...I got tired of going swimming. Sold the Allison BasSport Pro (i'm over fiberglass worries too) and ordered a custom 21' aluminum bass boat with a 6' wide (at the butt seat pedestal). If I were younger and healthier, that new Jag would be in my garage.
