    Hunting Permission

How do you guys get the land owners that are 50/50 on giving permission to go ahead and give the permission? Been working on two land owners all year and they wont just pull the trigger.

Back story of why I'm trying to get these 2 particular plots of land, one butts up to 250 acres that isnt hunted and hasnt been hunted for 10 years. The other plot butts up to 110 acres owned by our local school and noone can hunt it.

The best year I ever had getting hunting permission was when I did a seasonal job for our F+G department. That uniform was magical.

There was a property I wanted on for years but the owners would never let anyone on so when my daughter was about 5 years old I took her with me and I had no problem getting on after talking with them. I hunted the property by myself for 21 years and after they both passed I was no longer allowed on the property. Every memorial weekend I take flowers to there grave site, I'm still grateful for them letting me hunt on their property.

Good Luck! Its frustrating trying to find a place or a new place to hunt but I dont allow anyone to hunt our place but family so I always understand the hesitation. Way to many people get burned and it punishes the good guys who really just want to hunt and not bring all there buds with them.

Finding land around here is hard also. Even offering more money doesn't seem to work.

    "I want."
No matter how nice, gifts given, pleading, trying to convince, it still comes down to the fact it is THIER property, and some folks just don't want people hunting on their property whether it is just not willing to accept the added 'issues' that 'may' come with unknown people, or past problems. Doesn't matter. Sometimes we just don't get what we want. Best of luck!

We just had a LEO served with trespassing by taking his son onto posted land. Don't think looking like a LEO helps to me. They are human.

Around here it just takes a lot of money to hunt anywhere. There isn't any land not hunted around here anymore.

I always send a card or basket to let them know I appreciate them letting me hunt and will help anytime I can if I see them on their farm.

I have 2000+ acres of gound that I have permission on. As a forester I was hired to appraise timber. When asked what the invoice is I ask for hunting permission. They are usually grateful and give permission, never been turned down on offer. Working on another 1500+ acres of ground now.

Are there any jobs you can do free of charge or work trades to make?

I made up business with my full name , address , phone number and my hunter safety instructor info for archery and firearms back when I was searching for places other bowhunters were not hunting. I never had a problem getting permission. Mostly farms and did machinery repair , welding and even did some fabrication and machining for them. Been a long time since I have had to find property around here to hunt. Don't know if it's different nowadays.
