    Merc XS thermostats

Noticed the last trip out my motor was running cooler than normal so today I pulled my thermostats. Both where stuffed with small pieces of wood.

Must have sucked up some pieces of wood from the lake. I would flush the motor and block out good and replace the water pump impeller.

That’s the 2nd time I’ve had to clean my thermostats out in 5 months. New impeller added two weeks ago when I had new bearing put in my gear case

You might want to check the strainer on the side of the motor. It provides water to the compressor. When we have any run off the lake gets full of the small wood chips and I end up cleaning the T-Stats once a week or so. I keep 2 sets of gaskets on hand in case I damage one. I usually glue one side and grease the other side.
