grilling a beef ribeye roast bone in?

I bought this cut of meat for tomorrow's dinner. Plan on either smoking or grilling. Do you first sear all sides over direct heat before placing it in the grill/smoker? The cut is 3 bone weighing 6.7lbs.
    Thanks!

You can, I've done it both ways and they come out good. There are a bunch of ways to cook them and everyone has an opinion on what's best. I think a good seasoning and don't over cook it and it will be great.
