BTW that second screen shot has a school of 3#-5# bass. I caught several of them after taking that screen shot.

Very thorough comparison and you can really see the improvement in the MEGA 360. Thanks Wayne

What speed do you have the Mega 360 spinning at? Cool setup of the 2 attached. Did they give a splitter cable to you ? Side imaging shots are freaking awesome!

Most of the time I was using the 3 speed, to me it gives the sharpest images at a not too slow refresh rate. Still slower than using Fine/Fast with the 360.

I was using the MEGA 360 connected to the G3N Helix 12 SI with the included Helix adapter most of the time with no Networking sonar, and the 360 connected to a first generation Helix 12 SI. Still had the HDSI transducer on the trolling motor.

Can you do one around bridge pilings and in a field of standing timbers? I'm already sold and will get one next season.

Hey Wayne, is the left pic the Mega SI and the right pic the Mega 360? That right pic is sure clear!

No, that is a Side Imaging view, the bottom slopes from left to right. That changes the angle of the SI pulses and the sonar echo depths.
The MEGA frequency is more sensitive to depth changes.

Just like 455 and 800 kHz the shallow side of a sloping bottom will be brighter than the deeper side when parallel to the shore.

I was looking at the pic as a split screen comparison....not paying attention that it was a full screen SI screen capture. Don't mind me....just another senior moment....

That's sure clear for the SI view using the MEGA 360. I'm def getting one!

Awesome, thanks Wayne. I was looking forward to the image quality of the transducer when used for side imaging as well. I'm impressed and very excited to see see results like that. I can't wait until mine arrives.

Definitely an improvement, by how much only a side by side comparison will tell.

So it looks like the mega shaft is longer. From what I have read, the mega turns off automatically when taken out of the water. Was just worried it wouldn't work on my Deep V walleye boat if the shaft was too short. My current 360 is barely under water but works fine.

Ok so you were going 1 mph when you saw the fish in pic#2 to the right side.

    What did you do next?

Mark a waypoint and go back using 360?

Wayne, thanks for posting these amazing pics. What was the furthest distance you were able get good si scans with the mega 360?

I reversed the boat travel direction, lined up with a visual target I checked when the fish were recorded, and cast where they were. The lake has standing timber.

Not the improvement I was expecting and this is a side by side comparison.
