    Speaking of batteries

I bought a Duracell 31DTMAGM in June for my cranking battery and to run my electronics. Now after a few hours of fishing my front graph loses network and occasionally restarts. I have the volts on both units and the both read 11,5-11.6 when this starts happening. Should this battery be running that low after only a couple hours of fishing or should I be looking for another issue. I am running a Lowrance Live 12 at the console and Live 9 on the bow. Anyone know of any testing I can do to diagnose the problem?

How do you charge between trips? What do the units read when the outboard is running?

A good voltage meter is your friend!. First thing i would do is check the actually voltage at the battery when this takes place. I was having this issue back a couple yrs ago. I run all my graphs straight to the battery on their own circuit. I was losing voltage between the battery and graphs. Also check the bateries acouple hours after removing them from charger. It is basically process of elimination.

So next test for me would be wat is the charger voltage. If the charger is working properly and will charge agm correctly . The battery is bad. A properly charged battery imo should read at least 12.8 and up.

Where is that measured? Much too low for a reading at the battery.

Is the issue isolated to the front unit? If your console unit isn't restarting it's likely some other loose connection. I am m not a lowrance guy but I actually had an issue with my quick connect on a hb unit. Tab broke on back of case they repaired it under warranty.

One of the best things you can do is run dedicated wires from the graphs to the battery using large enough wire so you don't loose too much voltage in the long run of wire to the front. I did this years ago and have never had an issue since with any of my graphs. I run the same battery.

12.8V is fully charged for that battery. If you see less, the battery is not charged.

so are you saying that battery is bad?

No. Need to figure out if your charger is working or even find out what charger you have.

This ^ weak or compromised connections/factory would be where I would start troubleshooting.

So wat is the voltage difference between the battery and the graphs. Though it does sound like the battery needs to be load tested at this point!

Let it charge until the light indicates full charge and see what the voltage is then.

Finally had a chance to test my battery some more. Unplugged the charger and it was 12.8, and hour later it was 12.7

12.8V isn’t enough when you first unplug the charger. It should be reading more than that, around 13.4V before you unplug it, then slowly drop over 6 or 8 hours to 12.8V.
