    99 TR-21 Has anyone changed from a 10" to a 12" Jack Plate?

I have a 99 TR21 running a 225 Yamaha OX66. It currently has the original 10" Rite-Hite manual Jackplate. Concerned that the Rite Hite is known for failures, I have acquired a 12" Slide master Jackplate. My question is two part. Is there any loss of performance/issues going to the 12" instead of back with a 10"? Where should I start on a prop to pad setting if I go with the 12"? Prop suggestions?(Currently running a M-25 Yamaha). Thanks

I believe your top end when set correctly will be faster with the 12" but your hole shot is likely to degrade some. Just have to decide which is more important to you.

Currently I am unable to raise the engine high enough to get correct Prop to pad setting. but I run 70 full fuel, livewells, gear, 112 ultrex, and one man. No chinewalk.

My engine is sick currently but back when healthy it would run 73-76 close to sea level with a 225 optimax and a 6" manual. This was with a 25p tempest blade. I also tried trim extenders and did gain more positive trim and top end but suffered on hole shot with them. I took them off because I didn't like how they operated outside the trim bracket housing, too little support. I now have an 8" Atlas hydro with the same prop at a higher elevation I'm only getting around 68-70 but like I said my engine is a little sick currently.

12" is too much jack plate for that boat an 8" or 10" max is what you want. The twelve sets the motor behind the swell and doesn't gain anything. Rite Hites break and your lucky yours didn't

Mdtritn21- I'm trying to get the rite hite problem solved before it happens. I knew somebody that was taking of a slidemaster. They told me it was 10" AFTER I paid for and received it I discovered it was a 12". You state that its too much and sets the motor too far back. Will I see any negative performance characteristics, or is it just more than I need and not gaining any positives after 10"?

    I've got a 2000 tr21 with the 225 ox66.

    Mine has a 6" hi-jacker on it. Running a 27m prop and my p2p is 2.5.

Usually a full load I can hit 75ish

    Sell the 12" and get a 10".

Sell it and get an 8 or 10". In some cases more helps but not on this boatn Savage has the same hull and I'll bet he's already tried a 12" plate on his and took it off.

I put a 12" on my old '01 TR-21 because I was told that was the setback you needed to get the best performance. I didn't really notice any change from the 6" hydraulic plate that was on there before but the merc on the back was pretty tired.

What are you all's opinion of a Hydro-dynamics plate? I really like the way a slidemaster is constructed, but have an opportunity to trade the 12" slidemaster for the 10" hydro. Just don't need another "Rite Hite" fiasco.

    TIA

I like the Bob's Machine Shop design.
