How do most people that have dual sonar units at console use them? One for sonar and one for maps?
One for full screen Side Imaging and the other for everything else.

What Wayne says is how I use mine.
When running on pad, I use one for 2D and the other one for map. When hunting 1 for 2D and the other map (1/2 screen), DI & Si (the other 1/2). When verifying an area of interest 1 for 2D and the other split with DI & SI.

My SI unit is used for mapping only when I am running from one spot to another. It won’t read going 40-60 mph anyways. When I am in idle speed looking for fish or structure I keep it on full screen SI. My other unit I keep on DI most of the time, I may switch to sonar/DI just for some verification of things I’m seeing.
My Helix 9 at the bow is split to mapping and DI.
On the center console I use one unit full screen left side side image and the other unit full screen right side
When on pad I use one for 2d and other for mapping. When in search mode I have left unit the top is left side SI only on top and mapping on bottom and on right unit I have right side SI only on the top with 2d sonar and down image on bottom.
