    NMEA network Question

    I’m new to NMEA, from what I can tell my setup should work, but I wanted to confirm and couldn’t find an exact answer anywhere.

    My main question is:

    How I plan to use the Backbone Extender cable, will this work as planned?

    I want to have the Power supply and one T connector at the helm. Then I want to run a backbone extender to the front of the boat where the Bow Unit and Trolling Motor will also be connected. This way I only have to run the one cable from the helm to the front of the boat and not two.

    So for this setup:

    4 t connectors
    2 termimators
    3 drop cables
    1 backbone extender cable

    let me know! Thanks :)

    I believe i Found my answer, this is actually the proper method of extending the backbone or network.
    Let me know if I am wrong otherwise we will go with this!

    That’s the way to do it. Best to have the power on a switched circuit to avoid battery drain.
    If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity,
    nothing else matters.

    For best results, the t with the power node should be between the Ts that connect to the appliances. This will allow for proper amp distribution between the appliances. There are some checks that can be done to verify the best non voltage drop and amp draw.
