Hey guys, I’ve got a new to me 2008 Skeeter Zx200 with a 200 Hpdi. The previous owner didn’t mess with the jackplate or worry about speeds. The boat has 25p Yamaha 3 blade prop and was on the 5th dot on the jackplate. I’ve messed with the jackplate, and moved it from 2 dots to 8. The top speed I can get is 63, and has a great hole shot and the tach show 6-6200rpms. Any suggestions on getting a little more top end? Thanks for any advice!

That all she’s got captain! I run 63 mph 5,600 rpm at 3,000 ft elevation 1/2 fuel and just me in my 2010. I’m at 7 dots. At sea level I run 65 full of fuel with 2 people at 5,800 am ish. So I would guess 66 to 67 solo at close to 6,000 rpms.
Your rpms are on the high side. Operating range for the Yamaha 200 is between 5,000 and 6,000 rpms. Might adjust to 7 dots as that was the stock setting and work from there.,

where are you located, what are the air temperatures, do you have power poles, 3 or 4 batteries, full gas, prop pitch, how much tackle in the boat, is that 1 or 2 people.
65-68 is common. You will have a few over and a few less. If you want to go faster get an ecu from the same year 225 and a new throttle arm. 3-5mph gain with no motor work.
I have the same boat. I run a worked Tempest 25 with the jack plate at 10 dots (motor mounted in the 2nd hole, so that's 2' PTP). 66 with just me in the boat and 63 with a passenger. No power poles, 3 batteries and 1/2 to 3/4 tank of gas.
As mentioned above, your elevation has a lot to do with it. I have a TZX200 with a 200hpdi.(same hull as a ZX200) I’ve seen 69.8mph out of mine but average 66-67mph. I ran out of lake that time I almost hit 70. I live at sea level also. When I do goto a high elevation lake in the mountains. It does lose about 4-5mph. I go down a pitch on the prop to compensate for the higher elevation. I run a worked 25 tempest as well

Before doing anything have someone add a little cup to your prop. These boats run flat with the stock prop and just a tad bit cup gets the boat up higher on the pad and helps out a good bit.
I am at sea level and when i got the boat with no poles and 3 batteries and light load i was able to hit 70 under near perfect conditions. normally 68ish. Once i put on dual poles I was down to 66-67. Jackplate was moved up from 5 to 7. I don't remember PTP but it was slightly less than 2".
I "Know" somebody that swapped out the ecu and the boat with the same setup has seen 72.3
Thanks for the advice guys. I moved the jackplate to 6 dots, and lightened my tackle load(had a bunch...) We hit 66 this past weekend with 2 adults, 1/2 tank of gas, and running 4 batteries. Tach shows 5500-5700, and I’m pretty sure it’s not accurate.
