    HDS12 GEN 3 - Issue

Looking for some ideas as to why my HDS 12's have started to flicker when I am starting the big motor.
These units have been on the boat for 3 plus years and have worked great. But over the past 3 months, it seems I either have a wiring issue or something.

Battery is about 2 years old. It starts the 225 SHO without issues. Does not seem weak at all.
The HDS units flicker and sometimes reboot when I start the big motor.
HDS units, Power Poles both wired directly to the battery.

Just weird that it start about 2 or 3 months ago.

    Any ideas where to start?

    Thanks

I would check make sure all the connections are seated tight, sometimes things get loose and check your fuses that go to those for starters.....but I am sure you probably already thought of those....

Definitely a power issue. Do you charge your starting battery? If you do charge it does it work fine until later in the day? If that is the case then your starting battery is getting old. Since you mentioned that it happens on more than one unit you can pretty much rule out everything except a bad battery.

    Thanks for the quick responses.
Thanks for reminding me how to troubleshoot Stretch.... I totally missed that both units point to a common problem. Appreciate it.
Battery is about 2 years old. It stays on the charger when not fishing.
Interstate 29 series. Got over 5 years out of the first set.
I will go through and check all connections. Last resort will be a new battery.
This time I will go with a 31 because I am going to add a third graph.

Get the biggest and baddest battery you can.

I run a Oddessey group 31 Marine. Great babery, but expensive. I also put my unit in sleep mode while I’m fishing to save power.

Had very similiar issues...Went to Interstate AGM 31 ..not a problem since. Also make sure backlight is off on units. It draws more amperage if on.

Just ordered an X2 31 AGM. Running by the store to pick it up today.
Forgot to add that I also have the 3D system which probably adds another drain on the battery.
Anyway, putting the new battery in this weekend. Moving my TotalScan to the TM with a new Transducer Shield mount. Then moving the HDI to the jackplate (with a transducer shield) and getting rid of the shoot through (which has not worked in a year or more).

I know, I am getting things up to like 2015 standards LOL. Got hooked on fishing the Damiki Rig at a local lake and just need to improve my 2D and DI setups a bit.

Thanks for all of the feedback. I will let you guys know how it turns out.
