    New steering cable

Anybody got any tips for installing a new cable without removing the engine?

What boat? Only boat I have had to unbolt the motor is a Cajun.

Tie a string to the end of the old one and pull it through, tie the string to the new cable and pull back.

Sometimes you can leave the helm loose, tie a fish tape to the helm cause it will come up in the side of the boat - pull enough slack in the cable where you can bend it back to the motor tube, then pull the cable back to the helm. This has worked on boats with Jackplates. If the boat is in the way of the steering side to go through the tube, the motor will have to be unbolted.
