    HDR 650

Can the HDR 650 transducer be hooked up to the head of a Helix instead of using the gauge display that comes with it for depth?

Which Helix and what transducer connection does the HDR 650 have?

Helix 10 MEGA CHIRP SI G2N. It has the squarish type connector. I haven't bought it yet. I saw it and noticed the connector was similar in shape to those used on the back of the HELIX and was thinking if I could use this I'd maybe get better readings on plane versus the normal finder transducer since the only purpose of it is for depth.

When I looked up the HR 650, it showed as being a 200 kHz unit.

IF you have the 2017/2018 Helix G2N, you can use that with the 9 M SIDB Y cable.

If you got the 2019 Helix G2N from the recent sale at BPS or Cablea's, you can't use that transducer.

I'm not sure what year mine is, can I tell from the box? (got it from Gander Outdoors a couple months ago). It's definitely not from the recent BPS/Cabelas sale.

The first six digits of the serial number is the day the unit was made. YYMMDD

Wayne, mine is a 2018 model. Am I wasting my time and money here or is my thought process sound? Thanks.

If the transducer plug is shaped like the one shown here, you can use it along with a Y cable.

Yeah, that's the plug. Final question will this provide better/more consistent depth readings on plane versus the SI transducer since that is the only function of the HDR 650 transducer? Thanks, Robert

It is smaller and typically easier to get
    better
high speed performance than the larger Imaging transducers when installed so they can.
