Ghost Trolling motor - How to control with Live Unit?

    All -

I have my Ghost Trolling motor installed and connected to the NMEA 2000 network. My HDS live unit sees it in the list of network devices, but I can't do anything with it. I also have a Carbon 16 and it does the same thing. How do I actually connect to the trolling motor to set headings, interact with the map, etc?

I feel I am just doing something stupid here... but I have spent 2-3 hours trying to figure this out before wasting your time with a post, but I am at a loss..

Thank you for any help you can provide.

    John

You need a softwareupdate to do this, it’s not out yet though.

Funny Lowrance didn't have these ready to work togather from the release of the trolling motor (cart in front of the horse) again, sad.

Wow... There is a couple hours of my life I won't get back. It would have been nice to at least have an insert in the box or something on their webpage. I looked all over the support pages and FAQs. That is a bone head move for a $3000 product.

I appreciate you having that answer!

It was supposed to have been released late November, so it should be just around the corner. It’s been a while since I last saw their plan for updates though, things change along the way.

I knew this was going to happen. I told everybody to wait until next spring but everybody said that they can get them now. Just wait until spring and everything will be good with full Live integration and a few other features. If you absolutely must have it now then they are reportedly working great but not all features are available yet. I’m still running my trusty MG Tour until March or April, I figured that I ran the thing for about 10 years so waiting a few more months isn’t going to hurt anything.

Nah, you told us “they wouldn’t be available until next summer”. I’m good with having mine now, some people fish all year.

Yep, I agree that’s what I said. Should have said” fully available”.

19.3 will be out early Jan 2020. I’ve been using the beta and have been very impressed. The Ghost connection and the new Lowrance app integration is awesome.
Here are some videos I’ve done so far.

That’s why I love Google Earth. Copied and saved 2012 imagery from google earth and made a mapping file. This hump is now 25-40’ of water.

That's exactly the same way the xi5 works with Lowrance on the goto, cursor,or waypoint or creating routes.

Strangely there are only still a handful of people using this awesome technique.

I have taken it to the next level ...
