    Motor Mate ???

Just tried my new Motor Mate and it fit well. Question is: Do I need steering stops to keep the motor centered while towing?

I dont on my 200hp 2 stroke Pro XS. I've been using my MotorMate for almost 2 years and fish about 3 to 4 days a month making 1.5 hour round trips each trip. My motor has never moved. Great product.

I have one on an Evinrude G2 and no straps. It doesnt ever move. I put it on and trim down on it and all is good.

On my Merc 250 ProXs there is no need for steering stops as motor can turn with MotorMate in place.

Was following a boat down 105 by lake Conroe last week that had one of those type devices. Every bump his motor was moving like a 300 lb lineman had it by the lower unit trying to break it off the boat. I believe the boat was a Phoenix with a 250 Mercury. I could not tell if it was transom flex or the jack plate flex allowing the movement.

I use a Motor Mate on my Merc 250 Pro XS. Never a need for steering stops. If you're using a Motor Mate and your motor still moves, there are other issues.

I concur with btqoot. That motor should be rock solid with absolutely no movement if the Motormate is installed correctly. That is the purpose of those.

I wish Mercury would have saved a ton of confusion and called the new V8 four stroke something other than a PRO XS.
Not sure Motormate even builds one for the NEW ProXS .. It's a totally different design, far as I know there is only one company building one that does'nt require steering blocks.
The MM built for a ProXS 2 stroke is rock solid and does not need steering blocks.

I’m surprised that no one has made one for the 400 yet.
    What’s up with that?

Motormate is rock solid. You will not need stops.

No need for steering blocks on the ProXS model 2 strokes with those style motor supports.
Not so with the new V8 4 stroke . As far as I know the Toteright STR8's the only one on the market for the V8's that does not require steering blocks.
