What do the caracals run with a 225hp motor?

I've had mine up to 70mph with just me in the boat, plus my full load of tackle. I'm not great at driving at high speed. Sherm has driven my boat up to 74 with a similar load. He can flat drive a bass boat. I'd say what BASStex said is probably spot on for most Caracals.

Dual rear tanks will be faster, the belly tank options will plane out faster on holeshot but slower top end. So take that into consideration

The Caracal I took a test ride in got to 72, but seemed there was a little more. Was a rear tank with merc 225 4S. Two of us under 200lbs each other wise was empty, with half tanks, but had 4 batteries.

For those with a Yamaha, what props are you using? Mine came with an M25 and that prop will not turn enough RPMs. Ideal conditions on Friday - couldn’t get anything more than 5200 RPM and 66 mph. Probably 30 gallons of fuel, heavy tackle load, and my 185 lbs. thanks for the input.

    GET THE BELLY TANK.

2mph does not matter. I’ll take a better hole shot every day.

I have had mine to 72 a few times and made a long run in a tournament at 70 with two guys, full gas tanks, and gear. Mine is an 18 with a Merc 2 stroke. I swear it still has lift remaining but I can't drive it.

I'd of went back and got the rear duel fuel tanks. To gain the under seat storage. Put a 4 blade fury on those caracals they get up on plane just fine. Mine was pretty loaded down and would do 70-72 with the belly tank, poles, 4 batteries 225 pro xs 2 stroke fury 24/4. With a 25/3 I had the boat up to 75 once but couldnt control the chine.

Awesome speed. With my Fury 24/4 I can't get beyond 68. It starts to walk pretty bad at that speed. With my Fury 25/3 I can control it up to about 72 and then it gets kind of scary. I have the belly tank and I think the fuel rocking back and forth from side to side is contributing to the boat walking so much. What setting do you have your jack plate set at? I have an Atlas and I get the best speed with the jack plate set at 4-5.

Mine with the merc 4s, 4 batteries, p poles, rear tanks(3/4), loaded, pretty solid until u hit 70, after that things get interesting, 73 is about it. I tried quite a few props, a 23/3 at present.
