FRESH OIL LEAK ON 60EFI 4 STROKE
2008 60EFI 4 STROKE SER# 1C069612
8 HR'S ON MOTOR AT THE MOST
I have not had his boat & motor very long. When I first got it the dealer had changed the oil. It was overfilled by at least 3/4 of a quart by them when I picked it up. It is hard for me to tell were the leak is but it is coming from the front & will leak to the rear not a lot of oil but enough to concern me. It leaks all the way to the rear under the exhaust manifold & just a slight puddle. A quarter of a eye dropper & no more.
Does it have a overflow in the front of the motor. An could it have been puking it out because it was overfilled by the dealer.
I just bought this 1650 Dura-Craft from a man that never put it in the water. I have been thru everything on this motor & it runs like a top. But the slight oil leak concerns me.
Thanks for any help.

Mercury 3L/4 Stroke/Verado Moderator
Overfilled oil sump can result in leakage, especially if the level is high enough to cause "windage" (excessive oil in the crankcase journals that may become aerated or "frothy").
If running MERCURY brand oil, the oil is equipped with UV Leak Detection Dye. CORRECT OIL LEVEL to 25% into the safe zone (1/4 of the way in the safe zone). Degrease engine, let dry in sunlight, and then run for 4-5 minutes and inspect under UV Leak Detection Light (and glasses).
