    Mercury revolution 4

Do these run pretty true to advertised pitch or slightly stiff? Currently running a 25 solas 4 blade right now (came with motor and not the right prop at all) and trying to pick up 800 - 1000 rpm. Currently turning the 25 solas at 5100 and slow hole shot. Local guy has a rev 4 cheap but it's a 21p that he claims is closer to a 22 or 23.

You should pick up some rpm's with the 21 running close to what a 23" tempest would run on your motor. What boat and motor is it.

87 cajun 185 that I'm restoring and a mid 80s merc 200 that apparently is several motors put together into one. No jack plate. Current prop to pad is 3.75

I'm also looking at the fact that it's cold air and I'd likely lose even more rpm in the hot summer air

Mid 80's 200 should max out at 5600 rpm's but if it's pieces of others if could be 5800. That prop is stiff since it's a 4 blade tempest design but it still could be too small. Can you borrow a 24" tempest to test on it that should be about the right size.

I honestly dont know anyone around that even has a glass boat. Let alone a large one since this is jet boat country. I was told to run it from 5800 - 6000 rpm. If the 21p revolution does run stiff close to a 23p, could I not have it worked to lower rpm if needed? Hes only asking $100 for the prop, as he sold the boat a few years ago

If you can get a Rev 4 in good shape for $100, jump on it. If it does not work for you, you could sell it for $400 in a heart beat. I have 4 props, 2 of are Rev 4's and would buy that one without a hesitation.

That prop appears to have a "square" bore, but it's kinda hard to tell from those pics. If it is, then I would think that one of the Mercury Flo-torq hub kits would work.

Yes, it's worth the $100. Just try to keep it off the rocks!

Is it a square bore or does it need a rubber hub pressed in it? Does it have PVS holes drilled in it now or not? Either way it's a good buy for $100 you can always sell it and get your money back.

It does have the holes drilled in, but have plugs in all 4 holes.

The box says it takes the flo torque 2 hub system.

New ones cost $700-$800... You made out... Looks nice. I just bought a brand new 25P and had Mark add dual PVS holes and bend it to a 26P. I have not ran it yet.

This is the hub kit you need.

Why do you think that? The Tempest and Rev 4 are the same Dia at the same pitch and are supposed to be much the same profile. I get 4 MPH more out of my Rev 4 than Tempest + at the same RPM, Slip numbers are better I think due to Rev 4 handling the added transom height. I can't comment on RPM change because I hit my max on both. If anything I would think RPM's would go down slightly with the Rev 4 vs Tempest + due to more Prop surface in the water at any given time.

Your right except for post number (I think you meant number 2). I mixed the two and thought you were saying the Tempest would run taller. I guess with age I need to read twice.

Finally ran it today. 59 mph at 5900 rpm. I didnt air it out, as I am still working on setup. I feel theres another mph or two with trim.

Mid range is awesome. Hole shot is a lot better than the 25p.

I have all 4 plugs in. Should I remove some?

Will that help with having more power to load boat on trailer also?

Yes... Controlled slip lets the motor rev up into the torque and HP band while still pushing plenty of water....

One other thing I noticed was a vibration at idle. It goes away with any throttle. Is that normal?

Mine did it too. I’m trying the rbx rubber hub drive sleeve. I hope it goes away.
