There are a lot of good ones and even more bad ones. You have get the ones that fit your foot the best. They are all different!

For a few hours of fishing on a hot summer day I will wear the Crocks flip/flops. For the scenario you describe the only thing I will consider is Mephisto!

Lightweight "trail" running shoes or hiking shoes. I have flat platypus feet so pretty picky about my footwear. I like Oboz (very rugged), Vasque and North Face.

I never heard of Asici shoes until early 90’s. I have wore one style of Reebok’s for 15+ years, then Reebok stopped making that model. I bought a pair of Asici, light, good support, these were my everyday work shoes. I also wear New Balance.

I don't think a guy can go wrong with any good quality shoe. I like the Asici Gel, A friend buys the Brooks Ghost ( runner). I agree on wearing the shoes for just the boat use. $150 and they last 4 + years or is not a bad deal.

Totally disagree with this. I followed your advice and ordered one size up and they are too big. I normally wear size 10 shoes, so I ordered 11s, wish I would’ve ordered the tens. I would follow the websites recommendation, order exactly the size of shoe that you wear.
