    Proud of my son

I'm an Army Vet. My son leaves for basic training on January 16th.
He got infantry, airborne school and option 40 which is RASP to be in the 75th Ranger regiment. Two hours before swearing in they told him he cant get airborne or RASP. He had to get a medical waiver for a past allergic reaction to penicillin. He no longer is allergic to penicillin. They told him the DA wont allow special schools to those with a medical waiver. He is hoping once he is in they will give him a slot to airborne and RASP. He was very disappointed but decided to swear in for just infantry. I'm very proud of him but will be praying for his safety. Go Army.

Spent my first three years in the "light" infantry. Don't regret a day of it. Good luck to your son.

I think he will like it also. I'm hoping he is stationed at Bragg. Hunters, Ft. Stuart or Ft. Benning. I live in western Carolina so visiting him would be much easier.

Congrats to your son for serving our great country. Wish him the best in regards to his waiver for jump school and Ranger school.

I just noticed you live in Clarksville. I lived there while stationed at Ft. Campbell. I was 2/320FA from 1991-1993.

Congratulations! I hope he can get around the medical crap. My son couldn’t get into the army with high blood pressure issues. He was very disappointed.

Very cool. So you were SF? It's not a bad thing being a transplant in Clarksville. Lol
I thought it was a nice town as a whole.

That sucks. Good for him for wanting to serve our country. I wish him well in whatever he ends up doing.

We like Clarksville TN. Had a home outside FT Bragg as we thought we'd retire there. Sold it to buy a home here and a farm for recreation once we decided to stay here. Never regretted that decision. Yes I was SF for 24 years. Retired out of C/3rd Bn/5th GP.

Congratulations to him. He will get the opportunity to pursue RASP in OSUT so long as he pushes himself. If not, there will be chances for him in the future if sticks with it, especially if he gets a quick deployment or two in and gets tabbed up. Best of luck to him. Regiment is a hard life, but its worth it.
