    short shank treble

    what times/situations would one use a shrt shank treble vs a reg shank treble? thanks

    If the hooks on the crank hook up and catch each other, go with the short shank. The hooks are too close together.

    I use Strike King squarebills a lot and a regular treble hangs on the bill and fouls up, so I use a ss #4 on the front hook. Eliminates that issue. I also use SS trebles when I'm out of regular ones!

    Crankbaits mostly. Some big topwaters as well.

    Yep..this right here.

    Spro Lil John's MD are notorious for the hooks getting hooked together...it's the only thing I hate about those lures. I used to always put short shanks on them straight out of the package. Had stopped for a while, but decided I am going to start changing them again.
