Yamaha rock chip repair/ decal replacement

My 2012 sho has many rock chips. I got touchup pens from ColorRite, can I hope to sand repair areas flat then buff it? Or just live with the marks colored in? Also has anyone used aftermarket replacement decals with much success?

The paint is Basecoat/Clearcoat. Be sure not to sand through the clear doing a Cut & Buff. I will look at the cans in my shop and post where I bought the matching paint. We also used a color matcher to match close to a Nissan color code at the supply house. I painted an entire engine so didn't need to be exact.

Since I’m a novice I’ll try just using the cutting compound. Maybe keep layering clear till it’s close to flush.
