Lick Run creek on Dale Hollow oil in water

It looks to me that the oil is bubbling up from the lake bottom almost in the back of the creek. Is this something that has been going on a long time or something that has started recently. I've never seen anything like it. Makes me think of the beverly hillbillies.

Been doing that for years. I remember it doing that when I first starting fishing Dale 20 yrs ago. It stains your line and puts a nice stain line on your boat...

I can vouch for the nasty stain line. Thanks for the info.

You can be running down the lake and start to smell it in certain areas. Makes you wonder just how bad can our two stroke motors be with that happening naturally?

+1. For such a clean lake I've had many times I've had to stop and wash the dark ring off of the boat.

Shale rock formations all around Dale Hollow...the oil is leaking in there from natural sources.
