2000 520 jack plate worth the cost????

I have a 2000 520 with a 225 optimax with a 25p temptus. Boat runs good but gets a little squirrelly at 68 mph. Trying to decide if it is worth it to add a Jack plate. I know it will never be a speed demon but do enjoy trying to get the most out of a rig. Thanks in advance Jason.

I have a 2000 R91 with a 200hp engine. Out of everything I’ve done to improve my boat the 6 inch manual jack plate by far is #1

I have the same boat and year, When I repowered to a 2012 I put a 6 inch jack plate on and then adjusted for better hole shot when in FL. Would do it again.

Same boat 225 hpdi with phase 1 kit. 6” Bob’s hyd. I love having the ability to go up for shallow starts and down in rough conditions.
If you’re keeping your boat it’s worth it.JMO

Yes it’s a way better handling boat with the plate. I don’t know if it’s just a balance thing with the weight shifted back six inches or just the cleaner water at the motor, but adding a 6” Bob's was definitely worth it for me. Speed was about the same.

I love having a hydraulic jack plate. The ability to move it all the way up to take off in shallower water with almost no bow rise. For power loading same works great jack all way up push the boat straight on. Long no wake zones you can go a little quicker with out throwing a wake by keeping jack plate high and trim up about 10-20 percent. Have not had chance yet to run in real big waves but being able to put that jack plate down deep so you don't loose bite should be a big help. Definitely not a need but it is a very nice convenience.
