Duracell AGM Starting Battery for Optimax

I’m thinking about switching to a Duracell 31 AGM battery for my starting battery. I believe this battery is made by Eastern Penn/ Deka. I have a Mercury Optimax Pro XS 175 2stroke. Is this battery sufficient as a starting battery. The battery is part# 31DTMAGM.

Yes, it is sufficient. For most people. Not a world beater like some of the big, heavy, $400 beasts, but a good battery for the money.

I got one on my 225 Opti. Got it from Sam’s Ckub. Works perfect and I got just about every gadget on my boat and hopefully the Live wells are running all day.

I ran one for about 3 seasons on 225 Optimax Proxs...no problems with 2 HDS 12s, replaced a Sears Platinum AGM after 5 seasons.

    Good Luck.

Meets minimum CCA requirements (800) for a optimax, but I would prefer at least 900 CCA and 190 minutes of reserve to insure against low voltage latter in the day. If running multiple graphs and livewells the specs would be advisable. May be ok, may not be, just depends on how much you demand from it
    Thank You Leon Pugh
