Mercury XR2 Oiling question Don Weed

Mercury 1985 XR2 s/n A126132. Don would you unhook Oiler on low hours motor. Seems
like the plastic gear on oil pump breaks and causes major issues. Thanks in advance

While I prefer to retain the oil injection system- if the engine has been sitting a lot (not run for long periods), you would want to go completely through the system anyway (drain, clean, flush, replace pump and bearing, lines, etc). Unless you're going to go through the system that way... this would be a candidate for a blockoff kit.
