Congratulations to your son. I went to BT there 35 years ago. We stayed on Tank hill in WW1 era barracks.

We went to my son's Navy Graduation. Those graduations should be seen at least once by all Americans. It was one of my most memorable experiences of my life. Really makes one proud to be an American. Congratulations to you and your son!

Congrats to your son. Know how he feels. Graduated basic at Ft Jackson 49 years ago. Made the entire company empty our duffels, supposedly looking for stolen bayonets. Of course there were none, just one last dig before shipping to AIT. They still do this?????

They certainly did the same at Ft. Leonard Wood 48 years ago.

So glad they are now having a basic training graduation event. When I finished basic with the 5th armored division at Camp Chaffee in June, 1954, the field first sergeant called an early company formation, passed out our orders for the next assignment and then barked "fall out". That was it.
