    New to me Javelin

Picked up a 2000 17' Venom with a 90 Johnson. Its been 10 years or so since I last owned a boat. The steering feels stiff. I have pulled the cable off at the engine, the engine pivots free and the rod seems smooth in the tilt tube. Even with the cable disconnected at the engine the steering seems a little hard. This boat has a teleflex no feed back steering rack. How easy should it feel? Should I be able to turn it with one finger in the wheel? I have done a little research and it doesn't seem like there is much to service at the helm end and the engine end seems smooth. I would't be apposed to replacing the rack and cable but not if this is the way they all feel. Thanks in advance for the help!

With the steering cable disconnected it should turn extremely easy. The cable get corroded so just replace the cable and you should be fine.
