    Should I get L/U checked?????

Made a slight popping sound then wouldn't go in forward or reverse? Maybe time to change lower unit fluid?????

Ouch ! I think you should swap props and measure again for prop to pad height. That's why hole shot is a little slow.

I gotta ask, is the rest sitting on the bottom of the lake....That's could of ended up very, very bad.

Could have been gear case exploding from a bearing/gear failure. Note front of nose-cone is still present.

I suspect a internal problem leading to a gear case explosion would not have created a hole where the drive shaft exited. My money is on external contact - HARD external contact just below the nose cone.

    My bet was internal damage.

    I'm going with this. ^^^^

That housing is pretty massive... to loose that much of the strut area and essentially everything aft of the front bearing bore, took a significant amount of force.

That's what my Gen I TorqueMaster looked like went it let go at 82mph. Brand new Mark Croxton tuned 28 Bravo laying at the bottom of Lake Fork.

Sucks losing a B1 like that!

Did you hit something, or did it just grenade?

Just grenaded, with a sharp right turn. Lower units here on Fork don't have the best life. Always bumping stumps idling around...that can't be good for longevity. I was more upset about losing the prop than the lower unit.

LOL.... some people. And you know... you just know... they'll be back next week with a transom failure claim saying the l/u impact caused it and will never say anything about the forgotten transom saver - which no doubt was the real culprit!
