    Question PROP SELECTION HELP PLEASE

    2002 Javelin 200 (20FT) Bass Boat single console.
    2003 Yamaha 225 V-Max 3.1L (OX66)
    Prop = Ballistic 14.5 X 26 3 Blade Stainless Steel
    Seems like prop sometimes looses grip a little just during fairly low speed traveling in a straight line. I have to slow way down in turns or it looses grip and the engine RPM's go up. Seems like it has gotten worse over time.
    I do have 2 transducers mounted on rear of boat. A standard Lowrance 2D HST-WSBL and a LSS2 Structure Scan Transducer which is about 10 inches long. They are more on the right hand side looking at the rear of the boat.
    Prop edges got a few dings nothing real bad and I used a file and dremel and dressed it up a little but I could not really tell any difference. The blowout / slipping was occurring before I ever did the filing. I figured it couldn't hurt.
    I am thinking about trying a new prop. I was told a FURY 14 X 24 or 25 would work good or a TEMPEST I think it is 14.5 X 25. I would like some suggestions.

    Motor may be too high for that propeller... Since you gave no performance data on your rig, I cant suggest much.

    Do you have a jackplate? If so, how big and what is your current prop to pad measurement?

    No jackplate. Mounted directly to the boat. As for performance with 2 men and half tank of gas I think it turns about 5500 rpm at 60 mph. I think I have a video of the tach. I will find it tomorrow

    Also I purchased from original owner. Motor is mounted where it was when it left the dealership.

    This means nothing. I have seen many times where the dealer has mounted the motor height incorrectly. But It does make me wonder if the prop was ever damaged and poorly repaired... A known good 25P Tempest Plus would be a good prop to test.

    Are you the original poster on this thread? 2 screen name/handles?

    I also prefer the T1. But they are harder to come by and cost a lot more.
