18TRX w 200 Pro XS owners.... what’s your set up?

Thought I would start a thread specific for this make and model to see the different set ups. Thought it might be helpful for current and future owners. I know while setting mine up the information I found here was extremely helpful so maybe this will help somebody else. Will be curious to see how everybody else is set up, and how their boat handles. Here is my current set up:

Tempest Plus 23p all holes plugged
    2.25” PTP
    Top speed (still learning)
    Max RPM (still learning)

i’m pretty new to my boat, still working on learning to achieving full trim, RPM and speed. Will post once I can verify. I just wish the weather would cooperate, it’s killing me not being able to take boat out......

please post your set up, thanks all.

    2017 w/ 200 Pro XS 2s & 1 PP

I tried the Tempest that most use but I couldn't find a spot that worked well for take off or drive-ability, ended up using 24" Fury.

3.25" PTP was best for getting on pad with minor chine at WOT.
Best solo speeds 69.6 Mph @ 5650 RPM w/ H20 pressure in the 20's (cant get max RPM regardless of PTP)
    Two people 67-68 consistent

    - came with the Fury 25P which started walking at around 60mph and I never could push through it.
    - Tempest plus 25P on now. Not near as much walk and I’m seeing 65mph at about 5750rpm with good holeshot
    - right at about 2 1/8 to 2 1/4 PTP. Motor looks like it way up there just sitting on the trailer
    - I’ve read a lot on here about 70+ but I’ve not gotten there yet
    - Going to try a 24P Tempest plus to see if I gain any additional rpm/speed

In all honesty for me top end speed is not an end all be all. Rarely, short of tournament blast off, do I push the limit. Mid 50’s around the lake and between fishing spots is my usual deal. I’ll see what the 24p does in the near future and update back.

Thank you for posting that. I’m pretty happy with my tempest, but my dealer sent me that 24 Fury to try, so I’m going to put it on just to see what it does, so I know. I’m going to return whichever prop I don’t like, can’t hurt to try it. I was wondering how far PTP to try. It will likely be next weekend before I get a chance to try it but I will post results.

That 24 Fury setup more than likely is for a 2s setup. Also the Fury doesn’t like to run as high as the tempest plus. When guys post results or recommendations they should indicate if it is a 2s or 4s because the setups aren’t interchangeable.

Agreed unfortunately that makes for some confusion between the 2. Judging by your numbers alone i dont think the 24p will run well i think im going to ask for a 23p when i get it.

I agree I will likely keep my 23 tempest plus as well. Sense the dealer is sending it to me at no cost, and it came with a 24 fury, I figure it can’t hurt to try it and share the results with other owners of the same set up. I put the prop on today and lowered it to 3 inches below pad, I won’t be able to try it until this weekend at the earliest. I do you have a question, the Fury came with open vent holes, should I just leave it that way? From what I understand that only affects the hole shot?

Not sure what it will spin up to on holeshot but probably turn it about 5400 rpm.

Fury 24p, all holes plugged, 2” ptp w/ water pressure in the twenties. Not sure how many RPM’s but I hit 69.2 last weekend. I’d like to be able to do 65 without chine walking more than hitting 70 top speed. Right now I can’t go over 63 without chine walking and making it to 69 is tough. I haven’t put a level across the boat yet but it can’t be that far off. I suppose I’ll raise the manual jack plate another 1/4” but doubt I’ll buy a different prop.

I ran that 24 fury yesterday. I started at 3 inches PTP and the boat stayed very stable to about 66 mph. I was actually able to get it to 69.7 before I shut down with some chine walk. I went back to the boat ramp, raised it 1/4 of an inch to 2.75 inches PTP it did not really notice any changes except while trimming it up I felt the prop start to slip, so I think that was too high. I did not notice any improvement from going to 3 inches to 2.75 inches. I’m a little bit confused at this point because I think that fury actually has less chine than the Tempest Plus 23 does atleast on my boat. Water pressure is fine ~30 psi, but 5400 rpm’s was all I was seeing, but that’s just shy of 70 mph. Is 5400 too low of RPM or bad for the motor? I guess I’m looking for pros and cons between those two props. Not too much difference in performance as far as speed is concerned, maybe give a slight edge to the fury on handling chine. Not what I expected.

Ran the worked 22 Tempest Plus today. Holeshot is awesome, it spins up, bites and goes. Also overall better lift and top end also great.

Wow! Impressive.... seems like it’s about the perfect set up right there. How does your boat handle when you approach 70 miles an hour? Did you leave your PTP the same? Thx

Yeah once I found the sweet spot I have left my motor the same height. My boat is like any other performance boat once you hit 65 you have to provide driver input to keep it on the pad.
