I have owned monarchs since they were making them in Japan. Been looking a Leopold, but the one in my sons long range gun lists for $2600.

If that’s the case, that sucks. Guess I’ll change between vortex and Leopold. Whichever has the biggest sale.

I’m seriously doubting this. But who knows. I sure hope not.

A quick google search proved that rumor went around about 10 years ago too. Probably just internet BS. Nikon has been doing really well in the riflescope business for many, many years, can't see them bailing on that now.

I always bough Monarchs until the last few years I have switched to leupold. Pay a few bucks premium for them but you support Americans and the warranty is better.

That seems crazy. Obviously I have no figures but I would reckon that their market share is significant. Who else makes a quality scope for average joes except Leupold and Nikon?

I doubt this is true. Nikon sells a ton of riflescopes. Never know though.

I went and checked some hunting forums I’m on and it may be true. Some of the guys had emails from Nikon stating the same thing and one reputable Nikon dealer that frequents the forum said it was happening.

I was in my local gun shop today and they are Nikon dealers. I asked them and they said yes, Nikon is done with riflescopes. They found it kinda strange too that they were bailing out but they said it is indeed true.

That sucks, I have a few Nikon scopes that have proven to be outstanding scopes for the money.

Me too. And wanting to get a Monarch 5 for a new rifle but I’m hesitant now. I’ve used Nikon for over 20 years and have never had an issue.
