    Question 25P Renegade on a 150 Intruder

Ok, gonna ask for opinions. I have a 19 foot Champion with the strong 1991 150 Intruder. I've been running a 24P Raker the past 10 years without issues. I'm looking into purchasing a 4 blade prop because I'm older, and more interested in comfort and drivabilty as opposed to top end speed.

So here goes...would a 25P Renegade be a good choice to run on this combo? I know every boat/motor setup is different. So I'm sure there are a handful of factors. Anybody try a 25 Renegade with a hot 150 Intruder? I guess the other logical choice is a 23P Trophy?

Opinions please if you can. Thanks!!

I have a 18'9" Hydra-Sports LS180 with the same engine with a 5 1/2" CMC JP and I run a 25p Renegade at 5400 rpm. My backup prop(the one that came with boat) is a 26p Raker, at 52-5300 rpm. The Renegade is a better prop for handling and rough water. Raker is a good straight ahead prop.
The difference between the two are "night & day" !

With the Renegade at the top of the JP,I Can take off with the engine straight with no blowout, with the Raker not as high and must trim way in to take off.

On a 19' Champ...I'd think a 23 Gade .....However I've become a fan of the Bravos....where I used to struggle to get out of the hole with the rakers and gades....the Bravo's spool up quick and carry the bow well.....4 blades work well in narrow winding creeks.... I think it's the fs .....with the 1" holes instead of the pvs holes. With the bravo you may even be able to turn the 25.

    24 pitch Raker has a 14.5" diameter

25 pitch Renegade Bass has a 13.5" diameter

They will have very similar rpm's even though the Renegade has more pitch. The overall resistance is less due to diameter being small ,thus making the 25 Renegade have about the same amount of water resistance as the Raker. Also...FYI with the Renegade being a small barrel prop you might need a blow out ring to fill the gap between the gear-case and the prop. Some people will need it and some don't. The main factor is how much venting you have with the Renegade. If it blows out then you will need the ring.

A 25 Renegade should run well on that set up also as stated you might need a weed ring, holeshot should actually improve , top end might be 1 or 2 mph slower from my testing before. It should be what your looking for can't hurt to give it a try .

Honestly, I haven't opened her up much the past few years. Had some sporadic electrical issues for two years and just babied her so I could fish up in Canada while on vacation. Turned out to be a power pack issue. Years ago before some of the issues, I pushed her hard and would see 60-61 mph at 5700-5800 RPM. Now with new power pack fixed, and new carb kits last year, it seems that I lost some speed. Currently I see 54-55 MPH right around 5400-5500 rpms.
