Just bought a 2016 FX 20 w/sho 250 and 26p Turbo FXP. Hole shot seems a little sluggish but when I get up on plane at low speeds it wants to porpoise. That is with the motor trimmed down. Jake Plate is at the 8 DOT. Any suggestions?

Engine height may be off

Time behind the wheel will help. Drop it one dot to start with. Enjoy.

beautiful boat.
have you driven skeeters before? They do like to porpoise at low speeds under 28ish.
Could be as minor as weight distribution. Lots of people vouch on chris bailey's foil also.
That's a purdy boat.
A baileys foil will solve the issues. Great looking boat too

I am having the same experience with the low speed porpoise. It sucks.
I have read everything from motor height, hydro foil, 4 blade prop, and weight distribution as things to consider.
I have raised my motor up, as suggested by others. Not sure what the proper height is supposed to be on these boats. I also have Talons that I just put on last year. They did not cause or make the porpoise worse, it did it before installing them.
I plan on playing with motor height some more, and possibly try a 4 blade prop. After that
As utinator suggested, I will not own another Skeeter because of it. Just not right.
Motors have to be trimmed ALL the way down at low speeds! I have an 18 zx 225 and it will start to hop at low speeds with any positive trim, I just keep it tucked and it does not porpoise.
25 prop
Skid plate on bottom of the jack plate helps a lot.
Your motor is to high go to dot 4 and then slowly work up in very small adjustments until it starts to porpous then go back down to your last spot

Thanks for the help I'll work on it and yes this is my 2nd Skeeter!
jackplate wedges have been known to make a big difference
I agree. Keep it trimmed down during low speeds and a lower jp setting with help. If I keep my jp on max low and trim down I can maintain 25ish
After you lower it you will notice it ride's way better and smoother in rough water also
lower the plate or get a hydro plate.
