It was a post of sarcasm. I think we all know theft is illegal.

I told her we don’t go on vacation to save money so we will just go and steal all the towels and make the most of it.

With posted Air BnB reviews, Google Earth and 5 minutes of research on the internet you should NEVER be surprised at an Air BnB. We stay in them often. My next problem in one will be my first problem.

Has to be a natural disaster or other emergency for it to be illegal price gouging. Raising prices during a tourist event is free market.

I travel constantly with work....stay at the Marriott mostly (points/status makes it cheaper than list), However in Texas....La Quinta at least around San Antonio is great...clean, nice beds etc...and $50 a night on average. I've probably spent 50-60 nights this year in them.

Check out prices during Masters week in Augusta Georgia.

The hotel I stay on business is the Hyatt Place. Last week I paid $110. During masters week it'll go up to $1,500ish. Same room.

That’s not gouging, is supply and demand. As he said, it’s Super Bowl weekend so of course they are going to be high. Why in the world should a hotel sell rooms for less than they are worth to consumers?

When the twin cities hosted the super bowl recently there were people leaving town and renting out their homes and apartments for the super bowl weekend. Many places were absolutely trashed from parties and irresponsible guest but people will do a lot for money....many got north of $500/night. Hotels, bars, restaurants were crazy. Many of the bars gave their staff the weekend off and event planning companies took over the bars for the weekend. What was crazy to me is the influx of cash that showed up to watch a football game.
Makes you wonder how small the sport of bass fishing is when the “super bowl” of bass fishing is free to attend

Maybe what he meant was since he cant carry due to the cruise, he’s not comfortable with the lack of security at a ABnB.

I would never stay in a hotel without pricing Airbnb or VRBO first.

After staying at a VRBO or ABnB, does anyone go online and try to find your own videos?

Equivalent as the week of the Bassmaster Classic that all bass boats had a 50% markup but the week before and the week after they're regular price.
Gouging does not apply to a hotel room under those conditions. If you don’t want to pay it, don’t go.

Guess I had better check our cruise dates for that month. The last 2 we were on we paid about $200 per night both out on Miami.

Same thing has happened at upscale hotels. A few ( workers) have been caught hiding cams. Problem is, a slap on the hands and they are back doing it again in a different hotel.

You really think air b&b will be cheaper on Superbowl weekend. Call the cruise line see if they have any recommendations.

If you notice there published rates can be very high. Marriott I was travelling to in Dallas had a rate or 300 a night, I paid 180. Still expensive but was for business.

The JW Mariott downtown Houston is 300+ something a night. And its always full it seems.
