    Max Timing Check

    E225STLEDE

I Don't have access to a test prop, nor do I want to hang over the engine at 5000 rpm but will need to check timing in the spring.

Can I use a small merc prop/flor torq system with OMC hub? My thought is to put a small aluminum merc prop (QA1916X), back into ramp, leave boat on the trailer, and rev to 5000. yay or nay?

What’s the lowest pitch available to fit the hub you will be using? Big block engines don’t run the same hub diameter as small-horsepower engines, so I’m doubtful you will be able to find a prop with low enough pitch that it won’t push your truck into the parking lot at 5k rpms. Not an experiment I would try. That’s a 1/2 hour job for a marine service tech.

I'm seeing a 19 pitch aluminum that'll use the hub kit. Problem is having a decent shop that's close WITH a test wheel. I do have a couple shops I can call and ask, I guess.
