Do You Prefer Bulk or Small Spools of New Line?

When buying new fishing line, regardless of line type (fluoro, braid, mono):

Q1: Do you prefer to buy bulk spools or small spools?
Q2: Where do you store line when not in use?

    Thanks in advance.

Bulk spools for sure. You end up wasting line with smaller spools. I store it out of the sun in my basement.

Prefer small spools. Bought 1000 yard spools of flouro years ago and found the spool itself had a crease. As I used line and got closer to the spool, that crease actually crease the line. we all know how sensititve flouro is to creases/knicks/burns. Wholesaler nor the manufacturer would stand behind it. since, I buy multiple small spools and keep them in the fridge until used

Bulk is cheaper and I have less waste at spool ends.

I'd say bulk, but I only buy 600yd spools, if that classifies as bulk.

Thanks for the replies. I usually buy the 200 yd. spool or the 660 yd. spool. I've been wondering about the 1200 yd. spool...

Really depends on how your reels are loaded. My reels are all braid. It lasts for a Very long time. So I just buy a filler spool of braid to fill my reel. No need to buy bulk. Same with floro. I use 10 ft or so at a time. I fish once or twice a week year round. A 200 yard spool of Tatsu will get through a year or more. When I fished mono I always bought bulk spools.

I always buy a few bulk spools to start the year and supplement with smaller spools as needed. It may be coincidence, but the few times I’ve felt like I had line issues, they were from bulk spools. Don’t know if bulk spools are more likely to have issues or not though.

Bulk spools. I keep my line in a box on my tackle shelf in the basement.

Bulk. You waste too much line with the smaller spools.
