I installed a keel shield last year and it’s good so far.

I didn't want to sand the keel to put t on, but it would take a beating if I didn't have a Hamby!

I agree 100% not something I would want to do again. Next boat comes with a Hamby

I was told to stay away from Hamby on a bullet for 2 different reasons. I have had other boats with Hambys on them and loved it. My bullet has a Keel shield on it now.

Mind sharing the reasons? Wondering if there is something I need to watch out for?

Someone probably said they're too heavy, or you have to glue them on, or something because they don't like Hambys

When I talked to the local Hamby's installer he tried to talk me into a 6" but I wanted an 8" and he wouldn't do it. So I went with a 7" Keel Shield and did it myself... Dan

Hamby protectors stick down further off the keel, they have a tendency to hang on the trailer when backing off, and also I was told because they stick down a little more there is an increased chance of bow hooking the boat. Unsubstantiated on my behalf since I went with the keel shield. It was just something I was told. I had a hamby on one of my past bullets and it started peeling from the back of the keel. but I cant say for sure it was due to hanging on the trailer, the lake I fish is a timber infested swamp. But once it started peeling backwards it did definitely hang on the trailer.
