I blew my motor on Thursday and need to repower. Currently running a 200 pro xs. I cannot find the HP rating for this boat? Can anyone help? Thank you.

My 1997 is rated at 245 I believe.
1997 Triton Tr-21
1999 Johnson 225HO

Does anyone know the reason for the non-250 rating? When I research this I read of MANY of these with 250s on the back. By today’s standards it’s a 250hp boat...what gives?

I was always under the impression that it derived from the Merc 2.4 Bridgeport being rated at 245hp while the modern 250hp motors, that are all over the place now, were not in production yet. Thus, 245 was the most HP they thought someone would want to put on a bass boat. Not that it couldn't handle more HP.
It was too short and too narrow to meet BIA rating for 250 at the time. It can run a 250 by Coast Guard rating but not by BIA standards.
I’ve always been afraid to change the sticker. If something ever happened insurance would bend you over for sure and open you up to a lot of liability.

I have a 97 tr21 and just put a new pro xs 225 on it. Its was one of the last 2 strokes. I did the 225 cause of the 245 rating and a lot of tournaments have rules against over hping the rating. But the 225 pushes my boat 74 mph and that's with 2 10ft talons and all my gear and 3/4 tank of gas. 74 is plenty for me.
Want to sell the hull??
My 1999 is rated for a 250.
1998 Tr-21, 2001 Yamaha 225 OX66
My 2000 tr21 is rated for 250
97 98 and some 99 are only rated for 225. If I remember correctly
My 99 TR21 is rated for a 250 as well.
I have a 99 its rated for 250
